Monpet’s New Twin-Screw Bandera Sheet Extrusion Line Set to Boost Production Capacity and Flexibility

Monpet is excited to announce the arrival of a state-of-the-art twin-screw Bandera sheet extrusion line, which is currently being installed and is expected to be fully operational by late December. This new addition represents a significant leap forward in our manufacturing capabilities and will enable us to meet the evolving needs of our customers with greater efficiency and flexibility.

The new line will allow us to extrude a broader range of gauges and widths, from 180µm to 1500µm, with the option of single-layer or ABA multi-layer structures. This advanced technology provides us with the versatility to produce high-quality sheets tailored to various applications, whether for packaging, automotive, or industrial use. The inclusion of ABA multi-layer capabilities will also enhance the performance of our products, allowing for improved barrier properties, strength, and customisability.

With a total annual production capacity of 12,000 tonnes, this new line significantly increases our output, enabling us to respond more swiftly to customer demands and market trends. The increased capacity and flexibility will empower our team to take on larger orders, reduce lead times, and offer more customised solutions to our clients.

Our team is eager to see the line in action and is confident that this investment will help Monpet continue to be a leader in the extrusion industry. This new addition not only supports our commitment to innovation but also strengthens our ability to deliver top-tier products and services to our valued customers. We look forward to the exciting opportunities this new line will bring as we continue to grow and expand our capabilities.

Monpet Extrusion Prepares for New Extrusion Line, Signaling Continued Growth and Commitment to Quality

Monpet Extrusion has officially commenced preparation work for the highly anticipated installation of its new state-of-the-art extrusion line, set to arrive later in 2024. The designated area has been fully cleared, the floors are being repainted, and the power installation process is already well underway. This expansion reflects not only the vision and leadership of Monpet’s Directors but also the skill and dedication of its team, who consistently deliver high-quality PET sheet to plastic thermoforming companies.

Monpet’s commitment to exceeding industry standards is evident, particularly in meeting and surpassing the recycled content requirements set for manufacturers. Despite the increased emphasis on sustainability, Monpet ensures that the quality of their food-grade PET sheet remains uncompromised.

The new extrusion line is expected to be fully operational within the next three months, and the team is eager to begin production. This latest investment underscores Monpet Extrusion’s pledge to delivering reliable, high-quality materials to its customers, enhancing their capacity to meet growing demand from their trusted supplier.

Guillotine

Monpet have acquired a guillotine to aid the cutting of redundant PET rolls safely and efficiently, which will be placed for convenience in production to reduce manual handling and labour-intensive work.

Expansion of Yard

A new area of yard has been laid to help with our expansion to handle goods in and out more efficiently. The area will be operational early July.

Building Finished

Units 6a and 6b have now been completed which has enhanced our storage of raw materials and finished goods. Part of the refurbishment has been dedicated to our PET cleaning facility that has Metal removal, Colour and Polymer Sorter capabilities along with dedusting and paper removal to enhance our raw materials before processing.

Sitesweep

We have introduced a ‘Sitesweep FSC213 Hydraulic Sweeper’ to ensure the high standards of cleanliness are continued throughout the facility due to the increased yard area.

Increase in Capacity to Allow Further Investment

Increase in Capacity to Allow Further Investment

The 2 units are being renovated and refurbished as storage and production areas as the business continues its growth and ability to store finished product of PET Sheet made from a minimum 30% volume recycled content.

With the additional storage, Monpet will be able to make to order and hold stock for key clients in the support of customer businesses, meaning they can guarantee a feedstock of PET Sheet for their plastic packaging production without compromising space on site.

The increased capacity will allow for further investment of machinery and creation of a process flow from input to output.

The team are excited to be working with Bartlett Business Park, who are assuring a high standard of facility and their development of a leading business park in the Fenland area.

Enhancing Dosing Systems and Technology

The new Enhancing Dosing Systems and Technology, installed by TH Plastics, will ensure high precision dosing of materials at any percentage to allow us to produce excellent quality at even the lowest quantity of each required material.

This new system will allow dosing from 0.1% on any additives. The products to be dosed are loaded into the hoppers. The materials are then dosed individually from the hoppers, and descend into the weighing container, where they are weighed to compose the set mixture. When the individual dosing of the hoppers has finished, the obtained mixture is unloaded from the weighing container into the mixing chamber and then into the processing machine.

Colour and Polymer Sorter

Monpet have added colour sorting technology to strengthen the operation. The state-of-the-art ‘Cimbria HY 4 Channel Colour Sorter’ was supplied and installed by All Controls Ltd of Cambridge to enhance the capabilities of the Monpet team.

Mixed PET colours can be separated into clear, lights and darks to broaden the recycling use of PET plastics in the industry. This added step in recycling will allow Monpet to carry out colour separation work for customers and increase clear PET feedstock for our own sheet extrusion process. In addition to sorting PET, plastic polymers of other type and grade can be sorted to provide a single stream of polymer for further use in the plastic manufacturing industry.

Forklift Trucks

New electric forklifts were ordered through Eastern Forklift Trucks Ltd.

The team are extremely happy with the quality of the trucks to assist in handling the rPET product.
